'I think of the struggle as a race, A race that began with bullets symbolizing inequality, oppression, abuse, and misfortune. Yet, my people embrace the fact that we conquer things that are not meant for us. as much as we have prospered in this society, nothing has ever been good ENOUGH. WE choose to keep running.

My ancestors heard those bullets and began running, which paved the way for me to enjoy the privileges that were once unheard of for a person of my color. I wonder what gave them the courage to begin and to continue this marathon. We are human- the only differences are the color of our skin and the thickness of our hair. Why have we had to fight? If every human bleeds the same color of blood, why do WE have to keep running? Yet as much as we see in the media or in politics, I think that these questions can never be answered with reasonable justification.

Therefore, as long as my people are running in this marathon,

my black ass will flaunt my history

in front of those who hate to see my people prosper.
